Online manual says: full synthetic oil (Shell Advance Ultra 4 SAE 10W40) So I read this as needing a 10W40 fully syth oil, but doesn't have to meet any specs etc.

(16 pages) Nowthis '09 oil spec is 10w-50 and rotella is 15w-40 or 5w-40 for the syn so it hot weight is a bit lower than the motorex. I ran honda gn-4 10w-40 and Valvoline 10w-40 in my CRF450 for years with no ill effects. Can't imagine that the KTM motor is much different that it has to have the 50w oil.
